Lion and Tiger Den Hiking Adventure
November 14, 2021
Members of our Lion and Tiger Dens went to the Fort Worth Nature Preserve on Saturday November 14th for a hiking adventure. They explored everywhere from limestone outcroppings to river bottoms and were able to view a variety of animals and exhibits at the nature center after the hike. As a bonus, Mike with the nature center was kind enough to talk to our scouts and bring out a special guest - a Hognose snake!
Webelos Recruiting Campout with Troop 17
November 6-7, 2021
Members of our Webelos AOL den joined Boy Scout Troop 17 for a fun weekend at Camp Broadway including Father-Son canoe races and a spirited campfire ceremony. Our AOLs will soon be choosing which Scouts BSA unit they will continue their scouting journey with.
Fall Campout
October 23-24, 2021
This was our first time at Camp Broadway on Eagle Mountain Lake - I think we'll be back. Beautiful setting and so much to do between the Nova activities, gaga ball, fishing pier etc! And don't forget the amazing star watching party after our campfire on Saturday night, gazing at Saturn and Jupiter through high power telescopes!
Powderhorn High Adventure Training
September 2021
Scouters! There are amazing training opportunities out there for you! Two weekends every September, the Longhorn Council (DFW) and Capitol Area Council (Austin) join forces to host a training camp at Camp Tahuaya that allows Scouters to experience first hand many of the high adventure opportunities that they could bring back to their own unit. Cubmaster Jeremy got to participate this year and experience some of the following: snorkeling, canoeing, standup paddle board, rappelling, mountain biking, fly fishing, land navigation, wilderness survival, various shooting sports and more. I even reconnected with my scoutmaster from years ago! Registration for this event usually opens in January and spots go quick - check it out!
Hot Dogs in the Park
August 22, 2021
Rounding out our summer monthly pack activities, in August we got together for some hot dogs and free play at the Frank Kent Dream Park playground at Trinity Park.
Webelos Recruiting Campout with Troop 50
August 14-15, 2021
For our Arrow of Light Webelos den (5th graders), the summer and fall is an important time for these scouts to visit various Scouts BSA troops to decide where they want to continue their scouting journey. Troop 50 at Arborlawn United Methodist Church hosted some of our AOLs for a fun campout at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch including kayaking, swimming in the lake and a delicious shish kabob dinner cooked by the Boy Scouts.
Pack Summer Bike Ride and Ice Cream at the Trailhead
July 20, 2021

Den Advancement Ceremony
June 1, 2021
Each spring we "graduate" each scout on to their next den level and present them with their new neckerchief and slide. Plenty of other special recognition too! Great job scouts and scouters!
Raingutter Regatta
May 25, 2021
It was great to welcome back this end-of-year tradition of racing boats, water play and hot dogs and lemonade!
Webelos Arrow of Light Bridge Rebuild
May 9, 2021
The Webelos Den met to complete the construction of a new ceremonial bridge for the Arrow of Light bridging ceremony when our Cub Scouts cross over to Scouts BSA. Our Webelos den will be crossing the bridge they helped construct at the end of this year. All of the branded floor boards with the den names and scout law were repurposed from our old bridge. The new bridge is lighter weight and folds down to be more easily transported to our ceremony location.
Spring Campout
April 17-18, 2021
So good to be camping as a pack again! We enjoyed a beautiful weekend at Camp Tahuaya in Belton Texas. Activities included building and launching model rockets, fishing and free play in the great outdoors. The amphitheater overlooking Lake Boyd Callan was the perfect setting for our campfire and rank advancement ceremony.
Webelos 3 mile hike
April 11, 2021
One of the requirements to earn the Webelos rank is to complete a 3 mile hike. The Webelos met at Tandy Hills, just east of downtown Fort Worth along I-30. The hike provided some great views of downtown with a lot of terrain along the way.
Painted Bobcat Ceremony - Part III, with Monday Night Tiger Den
March 8, 2021
Many of you may not be aware that we have another Tiger den that meets on Monday nights. On March 8th we recognized all of their Tigers for earning their Bobcat rank as well as one of our Sunday Tigers too. Besides the Bobcat ceremony, we sang some songs, tested how quickly their den leaders could put up a tent and finished with some great desserts. We look forward to seeing them at our spring campout and other future pack events.
Blue and Gold Outdoor Celebration
March 7, 2021
On March 7th we held our first official pack meeting since the beginning of the pandemic to celebrate the birth month (February) of scouting. The Bears did a great job on the flag ceremony, we were entertained with skits from all dens, sang some songs, raised money for the Longhorn Council through Friends of Scouting, we showed appreciation to our awesome den leaders (our den leaders ROCK!) and finished up with a sweet treat.
Pinewood Derby
January 23, 2021
This year's Pinewood Derby provided some unique challenges. For the first time ever, the event was not able to be attended in-person. However, the pack leadership team was up to the challenge and put on an amazing live-streamed event. By all accounts, it was a tremendous success. The cars looked great, ran fast times, and scouts were able to watch the entire event safely in their homes.
Special thanks to Taylor Perkey for his expertise and equipment. You can find him at www.taylorperkey.com for any media or live-streaming needs.
Results from the 2021 event can be found here.
Cub-O Orienteering Competition and Campout
January 1-3, 2021
Even the pandemic could not stop the biggest Cub Scouting event of the year from happening with nearly a thousand scouts and scouters from all over the Longhorn Council. Members of Pack 350 enjoyed a beautiful day at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch (many of us even got hot during the 3 hour orienteering race!). Here's a link to the race results. Congratulations to all of our teams for a great race!
Special thanks to William Chance and Dominic Schultheis for their efforts in planning and organizing this event.

Virtual Campout
April 20, 2020
While Covid-19 did throw us a roadblock for our planned spring campout at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch, we were still determined to camp. Pack 350 held a virtual campout in late April, encouraging families to safely camp in their own backyards and make it as simple or elaborate as they chose.
Blue and Gold Banquet
February 23, 2020
This year we broke away from our traditional banquet style Blue & Gold for more of a “best 2 or 3 hours of a campout” celebration. To do that, we met on the Watson-Sanchez ranch on the south end of Lake Benbrook on Sunday afternoon. We started with a scavenger hunt and then had a picnic dinner around a campfire followed by skits, songs, den leader appreciation and of course s’mores. While the weather wasn’t perfect, the scouts had a blast exploring the land and feeling like they were on a campout for a few hours and we all made great memories there.
Pinewood Derby
January 25, 2020
This year marked another great Pinewood Derby for our pack. We had two workshop nights where you could work on your car if you needed help in the weeks leading up to race day. We had great participation not only from our scouts, but also their siblings and the adult outlaw races didn’t disappoint with the first motorized pinewood derby car to race on our track.
Wondering more about the Pinewood Derby? Here’s more details:
Mandatory car drop off & registration - Friday January 24th 5:30 – 7pm. All cars must be registered/dropped off at the Family Life Center/gymnasium (across the parking lot from the SAM building). If your car is not registered & dropped off on Friday, it will not race on Saturday. Your car will be inspected and weighed; there will be limited tools on site to add or remove weight from your car, if needed. As a reminder, pack car design guidelines were attached to your pinewood derby kit when you picked it up and also attached to this message.
Race Day - Saturday January 25th starting at 9am – Cars will generally be raced in den order from youngest to oldest; Lions will race first, Webelos will race last with sibling and adult, outlaw races somewhere in the middle. Our goal is to wrap-up by 1pm or sooner.
Each car will race 6 times – once in each of the 6 lanes of our track. The five fastest times for each car will be averaged to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place among each den level (girl and boy dens at each level combined) based on the lowest average times. Den placement awards will be announced shortly after all cars for a particular den level have completed their heats. Once den placement awards have been announced, your child’s car will be available for pickup. Overall pack awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be announced at the conclusion of the Derby based on comparison of average times across all scouts. There will also be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awarded for “most creative” as judged by our Boy Scout volunteers. There will also be a concession stand with food and beverage available for purchase throughout the event.
Cub-O Orienteering Competition and Campout
January 4, 2020
This was our 3rd year to participate in the Cub-O Orienteering competition and campout at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch on Lake Bridgeport. Our experience is starting to show as we brought home some of the top prizes from the competition. Some folks camp Friday and Saturday nights, others just Saturday night, and others just come out for the competition on Saturday.
What is Cub-O? The Cub-O competition involves using compasses (that you bring) and maps (provided on site) to orient to brightly colored markers (like a scavenger hunt of sorts). Teams (comprised of 4-6 scouts and adults) will use "stamps" found on the markers to punch their map. Different markers are worth different numbers of points depending on difficulty to find. Onsite trainers can get you up to speed on how to compete. The 2.5 hours pass quickly as you hike around the ranch, up and down hills and along the picturesque lake, to locate as many markers as possible before time runs out. You stay warm because you keep moving - many teams literally sprint/limp across the finish line just in time! We are competing against teams from many different Cub Scout packs from around the area and this is the highlight of the year for many scouting families. The pack provides a chili dinner and a campfire after the competition where you can share your "war stories" from the day. Congrats to our 2020 Cub-O Teams!
Fall Campout
October 19, 2019
This year we decided to make our fall campout local and laid-back to welcome our new scouting families into the pack and for some, their first camping experience. We tent camped at YMCA Camp Carter in Fort Worth. After arriving and setting up camp on Saturday afternoon, scouts could participate in a number of activities including hikes, build and launch air rockets, make a personal first aid kits, Learn knot tying and play various games with fellow scouts.
After a flag ceremony and dinner of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, we prepared for our evening campfire with skits, songs and the Bobcat advancement ceremony for our new scouts. The evening concluded with s’mores and dutch oven cobblers. Sunday morning we woke up to a scrambled egg and sausage breakfast with sides and of course coffee for the adults! After our interfaith chapel service including a special flag retirement ceremony, we broke camp and made the short drive home. Special thanks to the Boy Scouts from Troop 350 for camping with us and assisting with many of our activities and camp responsibilities.
NASA Overnight
July 13, 2019
Our annual Pack Summer overnight Trip took us to the NASA Space Center in Houston this year. Highlights included special programming for just the overnight campers including a fun late-night scavenger hunt taking us throughout the museum. We slept among the astronauts and spacecraft in the exhibit halls and then got to be the first ones on the tram tour the next morning after a hearty breakfast.
