USS Lexington Overnight Adventure- Final Information and Reminders




Pack 350 - the day is nearly upon us. Here are some final reminders for the trip


When: Saturday, June 28th 3:00PM - Sunday, June 29th 9:30AM

Where: USS Lexington

2914 North Shoreline Boulevard Corpus Christi, TX 78402


Please organize your own travel and plan to arrive in Corpus Christi at the docks by 2:30 PM on June 28th. Our Pack 350 boarding time is 3:00 PM. Depart ship at 9:00am Sunday, June 29th, and return home on your own schedule. Sunday we will have to have our gear ready to leave at the appointed time, but you will have access to the general public areas all day. See map below for parking.


What to Bring:

o Pillow & sleeping bag OR sheets for sleeping berths

o Toiletries including a towel

o Flashlight

o Closed toe shoes

o Change of clothes

o Refillable water bottle

o Lock (lockers available in your sleeping area to store your personal items, provide your own lock/key)

o Cameras/cell phones are allowed –limited charging ability


Important Notes:

o There are separate sleeping areas for male/female guests – please pack accordingly

o All berthing compartments are air conditioned and well ventilated to keep campers cool or warm

o NO food is allowed (meals are provided, vending machine is available in the lounge)

o Travel light as you will be carrying your gear some distance from the parking area to the ship and maneuvering up/down steep stairways

o Scavenger Hunt/Tour of the ship and aircraft

o Patriotic Flag Ceremony

o Bunking in the original crew quarters

o Dinner and breakfast provided


All vehicles will be parked in the Texas State Aquarium parking lot under the Harbor Bridge, tokens will be given to exit the lot prior to departure. All gear must be unloaded prior to boarding the ship.



RULES OF THE SHIP:

There is absolutely no rough housing, climbing, jumping, wrestling, etc. on the bunks, these bunks are original to the ship and a piece of history we expect our participants to conduct themselves in a respectful manner while aboard the museum.


PLEASE SHARE THESE RULES WITH ALL MEMBERS

1. Discipline is the responsibility of the group leader.

2. Group leaders must provide adequate adult supervision.

3. Youth are to be supervised AT ALL TIMES.

4. Absolutely no running or pushing is permitted on the ship.

5. Restricted areas are well marked for safety. Do not enter these areas.

6. Do not touch or turn switches, valves, buttons or handles.

7. No one is allowed to climb on the aircraft, turn propellers, or open cockpit canopies.

8. No one is permitted to leave the ship after dark without permission of the Duty Officer. Anyone leaving the ship after closing time will not be permitted to return. In case of emergency you may contact the Duty Officer (DC) at 361-946-4442.

9. No food or alcoholic beverages may be brought on board *personal refillable water bottle is allowed*. No food or beverages are to be taken off the hangar deck or down into the berthing compartments.

10. Lexington is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is permitted on the pier only.

11. Out of courtesy to others, groups are asked to maintain silence between the hours of Taps and Reveille. Campers must remain in their sleeping quarters after Taps, as it is a safety hazard on Navy ships to be up and about with lights off. Those unwilling to comply will be asked to leave.

12. Groups will be responsible for cleaning up and sweeping their sleeping areas

(berthing compartment) prior to departure.

13. There is no rough housing, wrestling, jumping, or reckless behavior allowed on the ship including on the bunks, the bunks are original to the ship, they two are part of history and must be treated with as much respect as the rest of the museum.

14. Anyone caught tampering with the fire alarm system is subject to immediate expulsion.
